MEET THE CATRINAS

MEET THE CATRINAS

Meet the catrinas on our limited-edition labels and discover how they help celebrate our vibrant celebration of remembrance and life.

With 4 unique label designs to explore, each catrina brings to life each of the elements of fire, water, air, and earth present in every Día de Muertos altar.

The Catrina of Fire

Candles light up altars while the scent of incense fills the air everywhere during Día de Muertos, their warm glow lighting the way home for the souls of those who have passed.

As the heart of the altar, the flame reminds us that the soul does not die, not even in death. As we light a candle for our loved ones who have passed, we keep their memory alive, ensuring they have somewhere to come home to every Día de Muertos.

The Catrina of Air

Souls take on many forms during the holiday, such as monarch butterflies that migrate to Mexico as the seasons change or papel picado that never fails to be present during celebrations. The breeze carries the souls of the dead from their world into ours, warning us of their arrival. The vibrant papel picado decorate the ofrendas, fluttering in the wind each time a soul arrives safely.

The Catrina of Earth

The land shares with us her abundance, allowing us to make nutritious and delicious food for our loved ones and communities.

On the altar, we offer items, such as pan de muerto, for the souls of the dead to feast upon their return. This sustenance is a reminder of the food they enjoyed while alive, and that the memory of food is with us both in life and death.

The Catrina of Water

Water is the source of all life, and it provides nourishment for both the living and the dead. To quench their thirst after the long journey back home, water or beer is left on the ofrenda for the returning souls.

The beer is also a symbol of family gatherings and joyful moments they enjoyed when they were alive, letting them know that even in death, this is still their home.
